2009 Southern California Interleagues

PLAYOFF SET UP

Consolation 3rd place match
June 6th at Fulton Middle School, Fountain Valley

Championship Final game
June 7th at Alberhill Ranch Park, Lake Elsinore

Single game semi final: GU8 only!

This will be a one game playoff, with the winning team advancing to play in the Championship game. In the event of a tie, teams will go into over time. If the tie persists in the OT, the winner will be determined by FIFA penalty kicks. Over time will consist of two 5 minute halves.

Teams loosing in the semi final game will advance to play for a consolation 3rd place finish.

Double game semi final:

This will be a two game playoff, FIFA style, where the aggregate (total) goals will determine the team that will advance to the championship game. In the event of a tie in total goals scored in the semi final games, these will be the tie breakers:

1.      Most goals scored as a visitor (home team is listed first on the game roster)

2.      Better group standing at the end of the league games.

Teams loosing in the semi final game will move on to play for a consolation 3rd place finish.

CONSOLATION GAMES:
If there is a tie at the end of regulation, the winner of the match will be determined by FIFA penaly kicks.

CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES
U9 and U10: If there is a tie at the end of regulation, teams will play two 5 minute over time halves. If tie persists, winner will be deterined by FIFA penalty kicks.

U11-U18: If there is a tie at the end of regulation, teams will play two 8 minute over time halves. If tie persists, winner will be deterined by FIFA penalty kicks.

Awards:

1st place: Team trophy and individual trophies for the players

2nd place: Team trophy and individual silver medals for the players

3rd place: Team trophy and individual bronze medals for the players

4rth place: Team Certificate

Top scorer: Trophy awarded to the team with the most goals scored during the whole tournament, including playoffs.
